Computing

At Newchurch, we aim to help all pupils gain the confidence and ability that they need in Computing, in order to prepare them for the challenge of a rapidly developing and changing technological world. Over the course of the year and across all subjects, the children use ICT skills with meaning and purpose to enhance and extend children’s learning whilst developing motivation and social skills in a range of contexts and situations.  It is vital therefore that children appreciate the relevance of this subject in our society and that they see it as an essential tool for learning, communication, finding information and for controlling and understanding their environment.

The Computing curriculum involves the teaching of:

  • Digital literacy

  • Information Technology

  • Computer Science

The school is committed to keeping the children safe and so each class completes a discrete e-safety unit each year as part of their computing curriculum as well as their safety being reinforced throughout their learning.
