Art and Design

At Newchurch Primary School we believe that teaching and learning in art is important because it stimulates creativity, imagination and inventiveness. Through our art and design curriculum we believe that we equip the children with the skills, concepts and knowledge necessary for them to express responses to ideas and experiences in a visual or tactile form. It allows the children to express themselves personally.

Art enables children to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. Children explore ideas and meanings through the work of artists and designers. Each half term, the school has an art week which looks at a particular discipline such as painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles, collage etc.

Each year, Newchurch takes part in the Warrington Primary Arts Network which allows the school to celebrate the wonderful work it does alongside other schools in the Warrington.
