'Teachers plan fun and interesting activities that develop children’s curiosity.' (Ofsted Report, 2019)

At Newchurch Community Primary School we strive to provide a nurturing, safe, happy and consistent learning environment for all our Newchurch robins in order to prepare them to fly.

We are committed to delivering a curriculum for all children in line with the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum, the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014. We like to think of our curriculum as 'a box of chocolates': a curriculum with something for everyone to enjoy and of equal importance.  We believe in providing our Newchurch Robins with an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum which will ignite a passion for continued learning throughout their lives - preparing them to fly.

Planned learning experiences are sequenced and organised in order to promote learning and personal growth and development across all areas of the curriculum. A range of enrichment opportunities supports the children’s learning which

Children are encouraged to learn in a way that is stimulating and fun. Through the delivery of our curriculum, we aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others while developing knowledge and skills, so that they achieve their true potential. The curriculum is the means by which the school achieves its objective of educating children in the knowledge, skills and understanding that they need in order to lead fulfilling lives.

We value and promote equality and diversity and our curriculum promotes respect for the views of each individual child, as well as for people of all cultures. We value the spiritual and moral development of each person, as well as their intellectual and physical growth.

Our school curriculum is underpinned by the values that we hold dear at Newchurch.  This is known as the R curriculum.  We teach the children to be resilient, respectful, responsible, resourceful, show reciprocity and be reflective.

Each Newchurch robin is a subject champion: a role where children meet with the subject leaders and discuss what they love about the subject they champion and how the provision could be improved.

We value the importance of each person in our community. We organise our curriculum so that we promote co-operation and understanding between all members of our community.
